چکیده
The present studies on the Efficacy of various insecticides against maize stem borer Chilo partellus (Swinhoe) and their cost-benefit analysis at Prayagraj were conducted during field experiment which is laid-out in randomized block design with three replications research department Entomology, Sam Higginbottom University Agriculture, Technology Sciences, Kharif season 2019-2020. Comparing seven treatments along control plot reveals that all chemical significantly superior over control. Among lowest percent infestation mean reduction was recorded Carbofuran 3G (9.09%) (60.28%) followed by Cypermethrin 25 EC (10.1%) (55.87%), Imidacloprid 200SL (11.1%) (51.46%), Bifenthrin 10 (11.78%) (48.53%), then Novaluron (12.45%) (45.60%) remaining treatment, Cartap hydrochloride 50% SP (14.14%) (38.22%) Deltamethrin 2.8 (15.15%) (33.81%) are least effective borer. yield obtained B:C shows yields among treatment significant. highest (39 q/ha) ratio (1:2.20) Which to other treatments. Next (36.44 (1:2.01), 200 SL (33.89q/ha) (1:1.89), (32.4 (1:1.63) (30.12 (1:1.63), Hydrochloride (27.83 (1:1.1.52), (24.42 (1:1.3) plot.

Analysis of Host Plant Resistance in Some Genotypes of Maize against Chilo Partellus (swinhoe) (pyralidae: Lepidoptera)
Twenty available genotypes of maize were screened for resistance to Chilo partellus in the field. The genotype Sahiwal 2002 was found to be most susceptible while DK-6525 was most resistant. Maximum infestation was observed at the end of April while the minimum in the last week of March. Significant variations were observed in all the plant characters viz., number of nodes per plant, plant heig...
متن کاملResistance of Bt-maize (MON810) against the stem borers Busseola fusca (Fuller) and Chilo partellus (Swinhoe) and its yield performance in Kenya
A study was conducted to assess the performance of maize hybrids with Bt event MON810 (Bt-hybrids) against the maize stem borer Busseola fusca (Fuller) in a biosafety greenhouse (BGH) and against the spotted stem borer Chilo partellus (Swinhoe) under confined field trials (CFT) in Kenya for three seasons during 2013-2014. The study comprised 14 non-commercialized hybrids (seven pairs of near-is...
متن کاملResponses of striped stem borer, Chilo suppressalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), from Taiwan to a range of insecticides.
BACKGROUND Information on the insecticide susceptibility of striped stem borer, Chilo suppressalis (Walker), is essential for an effective pest management programme. An early detection of resistance development can prompt the modification of current control methods and increase the lifespan of insecticides through the rotation of chemicals with different modes of action. In this study, the susc...
متن کاملEffect of learning on the oviposition preference of field-collected and laboratory-reared Chilo partellus (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) populations.
Recent studies show that Vetiver grass, (Vetiveria zizanioides (L.) Nash), may have potential as a dead-end trap crop in an overall habitat management strategy for the spotted stem borer, Chilo partellus (Swinhoe) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae). Vetiver grass is highly preferred for oviposition, in spite of the fact that larval survival is extremely low on this grass. The oviposition behaviour of fem...
متن کاملCombining Ability among Twenty Insect Resistant Maize inbred lines Resistant to Chilo partellus and Busseola fusca Stem borers
A partial diallel design was used among 20 maize inbred lines to form 110 F1 hybrids to generate information on the values of these lines for developing insect resistant maize varieties during the short rains season of 2006. The hybrids were evaluated for resistance to the C. partellus and B. fusca, and for agronomic performance over two seasons during long and short rains of 2007 at a mid-alti...
